Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at  if you cannot find an answer to your question.

I support and educated my clients on a variety of pain management options during labor, such as breathing techniques, movement, hydrotherapy, hypnobirthing and massage. I highly  recommend a doula as a part of your birth team (especially for first time moms and first time vaginal births), as they  can support you with a great number of coping techniques and options. I will work with you to create a personalized plan that meets your needs and preferences.

Yes, I on-call for  you and your baby adjust to life after birth. I can be reached by phone for urgent matters 24/7. Postpartum care also includes at least 1 home visit, atleast 3 postpartum visits, breastfeeding support, newborn care, and emotional support for the entire family up to 6 weeks postpartum.

Though uncommon, in the event of a hospital transfer, I will accompany you to the hospital and in most cases continue to be available to provide support, including labor, birth, immediate postpartum, and a postpartum visit in the hospital. I will also continue to provide postpartum care once you are discharged from the hospital.

Safety is my top priority and licensed midwives have excellent safety statistics compared to hospitals for low-risk pregnancies.  Whether a complication arises during the prenatal period, during labor, during birth, or during postpartum period, I am trained to asses risk level, manage a variety of complications, and understand when transfer of care is appropriate and the level of urgency.  I follow evidence-based practices and state law for the safety of mom & baby.

I follow a similar schedule to what is standard:  starting care in first trimester, with visits every 4 weeks, then at 28 weeks we start visits every 2 weeks, and finally at 36 weeks we have weekly visits until your sweet baby is born!  This schedule is subject to change if indicated.  Each client usually sees me for about 10 visits prenatally.  Plan to spend about 2 hours at the initial visit and about 1 hour at each subsequent visit.  If more or less time is requested, I can adjust how much time is spent.  I also occasionally offer virtual visits for special cases.  each appointment is at my office, except for a home visit at approximately 36 weeks.

Each visit we sit down and discuss any discomforts you might be having related to pregnancy, anything that might impact your pregnancy, answer your questions, review appropriate information based on your gestation (including options for upcoming testing like lab work and ultrasounds, childbirth education referrals, etc), I check your vitals, do any labwork that is indicated, I feel your belly to assess baby’s position, measure your fundal height, and listen to baby’s heartbeat at each visit.

You will have atleast 3 postpartum visits that last about an hour each.  I will check on both you and your baby.  Atleast 1 of those visits is a home visit.
